I loved every minute of being in Brazil. I always thought when the day came that Jordan and I went to Brazil together we'd be visiting his mission in Sao Paulo. We didn't make it to Sao Paulo this trip, but did make it to some other beautiful places. And with Jordan traveling to Brazil 3-4 times a year for work, that increases my chances of going back too! And after this trip, I will start saving my money so me and baby can go back with him.
I was nervous about the getting to Brazil part of things since I would be traveling alone, and meeting up with Jordan in Rio. I flew first to Miami, then Sao Paulo, then Rio. Jordan had wrote out instructions on what to do once I was in Sao Paulo, about going through customs, getting my bags, and getting on the plane to Rio. He told me nothing to worry about, the whole process should take about 20-30 minutes, and I had two hours there. . . . Wrong.
I almost missed my connecting flight. I got to the plane with about 30 seconds to spare, and was doing all I could to not burst into tears. Pregnant, traveling alone, 20 hours, no cell phone, and don't understand a word spoken to me, a call for disaster.
But, I made it, and made it to Rio where Jordan and his co-worker Danny were waiting for me.
I was so grateful to finally be there and start this vacation!
Day 1: Rio
We spent 4 days in Rio, and it was better than I could have imagined.
Rio was one of the prettiest places I have ever been. We stayed across the street from Ipanema Beach, and behind the hotel were street shops, restaurants, and a shopping mall.
Our hotel here was lovely. Traveling with Google is the way to go I've decided.
My first two days there Jordan would be working, which left me time to explore.

And I spent the rest of my day at the beach.
The weather was perfect, 90 degrees, sunny, and hot.
Not to mention it was beautiful there. The mountains and hills in Rio were so pretty surrounding the beach.
Brazilians have no shame in their swimwear by the way, no matter the shape or size of you, the swim suits are the same. Thongs and bikini tops for women, and little underwear-type for men. Yikes.
I think I spent about 6 or 7 hours here that day. It was lovely.
(What I'd give to be back laying on that beach.)
That night when Jordan and Danny were done working, we went to a churrascao for dinner.
(This was my one and only churrascao for the trip, and Jordan and Danny's third. All you can eat meat.
I'm not sure how they are both still skinny.)
But we did eat very well on this vacation,
I'm afraid what my Dr. will say at my next appointment about a sudden weight gain. . .

This day was wonderful.
It was only the beginning of our trip. I had no idea the fun I had ahead of me.
Soooo FUN!!! I'm glad you arrived safely. I can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteSuper fun, Brooke! I'm so jealous. We went back in 2006, but I've been aching to go back again. We didn't make it to Rio, though. Some day you should definitely go to Sao Paulo together. When we went we visited his old mission areas and saw some friends. It was so fun to see a part of Christian from his life before me.
ReplyDeleteAhh! How fun! I'm so glad you got to go. Can't wait to see more!
