Our second city we visited in Brazil was Curitiba.
We arrived to Curitiba on Sunday morning, and got settled into our hotel. After a good rest we were ready to head out and get some lunch. The hotel recommended a Brazilian restaurant just a few blocks down.
Jordan had to prepare most of that day for his presentation he'd be giving Monday morning, so we spent most of our Sunday at our hotel and later had dinner there in their fancy restaurant.
The next day just happened to be the warmest day of our time in Curitiba, which was great for my exploring part of the city. Jordan and Danny told me they'd be back around noon if I wanted to meet up with them for lunch before they finished their visits they had scheduled for the remainder of the afternoon.
I love that Brazilians love their french fries as much as I do, and there was not much to this chicken sandwich, but I have been wanting to recreate it ever since I got home it was so good.
Even with Jordan working, and me spending the day by myself, I loved this day in Curitiba. Our hotel was in the center of the city, near some great shopping, food, and places to tour.
In Rio, lots of the people could understand some English. Not in Curitiba. This made for a funny day. I learned that if I inform people I only spoke English, they would either ignore you from there on out, or, try desperately to understand you, and make you understand them. It was quite sweet, and quite funny. Curitiba was a cute little city, with lots of people out. I wasn't sure if they were all vacationing, or if that is just what people do there, wonder the city. Either way, I loved it.
Danny (Jordan's co-worker who spent the week with us) had researched some famous things to see in Curitiba, one being the Library. Here is what I thought was the library. (It was actually a bookstore.)
And this, was perhaps the greatest ice cream cone I had ever had. I wondered if it was because I had been walking for the past 5 hours, but the following cones I had the next two days reassured me it was just that good!
If it feels like everytime I am with Jordan and Danny all I have is pictures of food, you are correct. Most of the times I met up with the two of them on their work days were spent eating. I didn't mind it. I also didn't mind these delicious restaurants they were taking me to.
Tonight's menu: Pata Negra, a Spanish Restaurant.
For Jordan, a Spanish Tortilla.
And for me, a Orange Chicken dish with batata frita's (french fries). So good.
With Churro's for dessert.
Jordan only had a half day of work left on Tuesday before he could enter this vacation with me. I couldn't wait to spend more than just my meals and nights with him!
Your blog makes me hungry!!!! :) This looks like a beautiful place
